So it *is* the same out there! >g< The wagon trains out here notorious for that. When I was a teenager my first camping trip with my horse was to something called "The Chattsworth Family Wagon Train". I showed my parents the brochure and told them my riding buddy and I were going to go stay three days. They thought it sounded wholesome enough. When we pulled in we saw a guy we knew from the horse shows. He said...what are you two doing here ALONE!? He moved his camper next to ours "to keep us safe". The partying went on all night. Drunks in wagons circled the camp non-stop. There was a "whore house tent". We started to go to the dance but our protecter ordered us not to. There was a knifing that night...something about some woman catching her husband with a woman from "the tent". I'll never forget walking to the restroom the next morning and stepping on a set of false teeth. >g< And our protecter...he took in a woman whose husband had gotten drunk and beat her up...then the husband showed up at his camper with a gun...and he was keeping *us* safe? We made it home alive, but my horse brought home a good case of flu which spread to my other two. I never told my parents a thing. And people wonder why I love endurance people! By the way, the man who owned the camp where we had our endurance ride up at Tellico Plains also hosted a wagon train. He said endurance was much safer.
