Re: [RC] Horses that toe out - Heidi SmithI have been reading the archives on this subject and some people mention that a horse that toes out might interfere. I am confused how that happens - if they toe out aren't their hooves further away from each other? I thought that a horse that toes out will swing their legs more to the outside.... Does it make a difference if the horse toes out from the fetlock down (straight cannons) or toes out from the knee (cannon is also slightly turned). A horse that toes out has the breakover point of the hoof to the inside of the the hoof's center. This causes the flight path of the hoof to go on an arc to the inside of the direction that the leg itself is traveling. Conversely, a horse that toes in breaks over to the outside and the foot travels an arc to the outside of the direction that the leg is traveling.
