[RC] Insurance (was Newbie here) - rides2far

I heard something like that a membership in the Georgia Horse Council
gives you a million dollars of liability insurance on you and your horse.
I've been meaning to join. There's just one more reason.

I don't think "people" are as bad to sue as the insurance companies
insinuate. The insurance companies are the ones who sue to try to recoup
their expenses. If your horse runs over your friend at a ride and your
friend has medical insurance and does not hold you responsible, her
medical insurance provider will still try to find out if there's someone
they can sue to get the money back.

Ticks me off for my insurance company to do that. They made a bet I
wouldn't get hurt when they covered me. I made a bet I would. I won. They
should pay up. As far as I'm concerned any time I get hurt I was on
public land (they can't sue the gov) and my own horse did it. So far I
haven't had to lie but I'll be darned if I'm going to help'em out. When
my neighbor told me I could ride on his land I asked him if I could own
any spot I get hurt on. That way I can say "I was on my own land." :-)

P.S. Welcome to endurance. You sound like a keeper. :-)

Angie
