Re: [RC] Newbie here - m l

Liz,

Sounds like you been doing your homework. I love this
sport because it can be anything you want it to be.
It can be a race,a pleasure ride, but it is always a
test. I don't know much about personal insurance
people carry, but wish you the very best. Always have
a good time.

To everyone at Endurance.net and Ridecamp,
First of all a great big thank you! For several
months now I have been lurking and reading and
absorbing everything I could and only this weekend
did I build up the guts to sign up and make a post.
Without boring everyone, in a nutshell I started
riding when I was 10 (I'm now 24) on saddlebreds
doing country pleasure and gaited classes. I haven't
done any competing in ages, and even so that was
largely short lived. Admittedly I had neither the
funds or the interest to continue showing in that
discipline. Earlier this year while saddle shopping
I stumbled over an endurance saddle, and took to
researching it. I'd love to try my hand at it. I
have a 4 year old half-Arabian,
half-Saddlebred(Commander) who I've been
conditioning for several months now. We're taking
our time with it, but I'd like to have him in a few
LD rides by this fall (if memory serves 4 year olds
can enter the 25 milers, someone please correct me
if I'm wrong).

My question is about insurance regarding endurance
riding. My sister and I have our two horses on a
friend's property, with private horse owner's
liability. All the riding we've done and horses we'd
owned prior to this were at the riding stables we'd
been attending since we started so it was never an
issue. Is it necessary to up my insurance to
something that will cover more if and when we begin
traveling to rides? I thought I'd check with
everyone here first before inquiring at my insurance
company. I like my company, but I didn't want to
give them an oppurtunity to pull one over on dumb,
unsuspecting me ;)

Many thanks to everyone!
Regards,
Liz and Commander
