[RC] [Guest] Conditioning - Ridecamp Guest

Lin Sutherland lsutherland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hey endurance riding friends,

I want you all to know of a great place I've just returned from for
conditioning horses. It's Beaver Creek Ranch in Alpine, Arizona on the New.
Mex. border. It's in the beautiful Apache Wilderness (1 million acres to
ride) and the owner, Billy Wiltbank, has marked trails for endur. riders.
It's a wonderful facility/guest ranch with a great attitude. He even has
extra horses if you want to bring a friend to ride with you. I just did
their 3 day Horse Drive and it was a multi-day! 25 miles a day, full out,
pushing the ranch herd from winter pastures to summer. Can't recommend this
outfit enough for an all round great vacation. It costs $385 a week,
everything included: food, lodging, horse overnighting (no charge, but he
asks you bring your own hay and feed). For all the info, see the website at
www.beavercreekguestranch.com You can do this all summer, plus he's
running a special in June and Aug. 15 to Sept. 15 for AERC members. The
ranch has some altitude, making it cool in the summer, but the program
allows the horse to rest first day, then start slowly into riding if you're
horse is a flatlander. It's worked so far.... I wrote an article on the
horse drive for Western Horseman magazine; if you want to read it, I can
email it on request.
