[RC] I'm so proud of my boy! - jspoone

It wasn’t endurance so I’m hoping everybody doesn’t mind. I took my 6yo gelding to a 10 mile judged trail ride this weekend. The ride started Saturday morning so I loaded up and headed for the camp ground Friday afternoon. It was his first “competitive” event AND first time camping out someplace. He did wonderful! Took to camping like he had done it a 1000 times. Horses hollering and going past till the wee hours of the morning and he never once made a ruckus. Morning of the ride we saddled up and headed down the road to start on the trail and boy was he ready to go. He never once fought me but he was definitely “on the bit”. There were over 100 horses with a mix of everything, ponies, old timers, babies (2-3 year olds), even a couple stallions. I let Casino trot for most of it and he kept his wits together negotiated the obstacles set up (boy were they creative!) and best of all finished the 10 miles of trail still pulling at the bit wanting to go go go. I guess he answered me on whether he was ready for an LD or not! Sorry for it not being endurance related I just had to share.
