At the risk of yelling "fire" in a crowded theatre,  I'd like to get some
personal experience on tying vs. not tying in stock trailer.  I know there
are a ton of opinions on this so what I'd really like is personal
experience.  I've heard a lot of do's and don'ts, but it's really the WHY
behind it all that I'm after.  

The situation is this:  I have a big trip coming up and my little beastie
can be very finicky about loading.  So once he's in, he will be in for a 10
to 12 hour day.  Will water, feed, etc. but no getting out of that trailer
till the day is done!  Given that my 2 horse slant load trailer can be
opened up into a stock configuration I'm considering doing this to give him
a bit more room to stretch his legs.  So my next question would be to tie or
not to tie.  I've seen horses travel both ways and I'm sure there are pros
and cons to each.  Further, I'm of the mind that no matter what safety
precautions you take, most horses can still come up with a  million ways to
get themselves into trouble.

Thanks in advance for the info.  We've got 3 days on the road coming up and
I'm just trying to find a good balance between safety and comfort.

P.S. - I have gotten some wonderful referrals on "horse hotels" for Oklahoma
City, but none for the St. Louis area.  I've got the links but I'd love a
good personal reference.
