Re: [RC] [RC] The downside of bungees - tubes - Sarah W

I can't say that I will ever use traditional bungee
ties again. A few years ago, I hired a someone to
haul my gelding, who was head shy at the time
(something we had been slowly working on, he was head
shy before he came to me). The hauler loaded and
snapped him in but did not secure the butt chain (her
error, obviously). No sooner did she step out of the
trailer did my gelding come flying out, busted the
bungee, and it snapped back and whipped him across the
forehead. It was like going right back to step one
with his head shyness.

I like using inner tubes. But, be very wary of
regularly inspecting them and replacing with any
indications of wear. One of my yearlings took out a
car size innertube this last winter because I didn't
replace it - it was a few years old and starting to
show its age.
