AW: [RC] electrolytes; carboloader homemade - Hilga Höfkens

Carboloader:
2,5 kg (about 5,5 lbs) Maltodextrine, 100 tablets Chrompicolinate or
Chromnicotinate (~200 mg Chromium), 200 g (about 0,44 lbs) of homemade elys
(about 0,44 lbs), 1l (2.2lbs) hot water.
Sorry for the funny measures, what comes handy in gamms goes square in lbs.

Finely ground the tablets , mix malto, ely and Chrome and then ad the *hot*
water. Mix till it´s all a nice whitish liquid.
The hotter the water the better the malto dissolves. In warm weather that
mix will be fine and 100 -150 ml will make a dose.
If it is cold this stuff will not get out of the syringe. Add more water
(adjust dosage) or store in really warm place.
To play safe I usually use 2 l (4.4 lbs) hot water and make 200 ml (0,44
lbs) be a dose, but I own a really lare dosegun (runningbear). I do give
additional elys in applesauce at a ride. The elys in the carbo are only for
better adsorption and by no means enough when you´re riding.

Chrompicolinate can be bought at any pharmacy (just like the
ely-ingredients) or drugstore as it is common food-supplement for humans.
The real problem is the maltodextrine. After lengthy search at the internet
a got a company producing it (Cerestar, funny its sort of in the next city
from where I live) and they had a list of dealers. It is produced for the
food-industrie manly and comes in 25kg bags. That one bag was about the same
price as 3 kg ready made Carboloader (which I would have to get shipped
overseas from US). So even if half of that bag will be wasted, it´ll still
be LOTS cheaper. Maybe you can find some dealer at www.cerestar.com too.

Sorry if I spoil somebodys business with that, but with the problems to get
that stuff most people will probably stick with the ready made thing anyway.

I would apreciate anybodys suggestions as to possible improvements of the
recipe of carboloader and elys (esp. Susan G. and other experts).
Thanks a lot.

Happy trails
Hilga

Two parts salt, two parts kalium citrate (or lite salt), one part calcium
gluconate, one part magnesium gluconate
Much cheaper and much more effective than the mixes one can buy here. They
are manly grape-sugar.

I mix them in applejuice and in carboloader (home made too).

Anybody have any other home made electrolyte recipes?
I like this one! Simplest I've seen. :)
