Re: [RC] Twitch for loading - Bette Lamore

Hi Amanda
The twitch in the trailer sounds like an accident waiting to happen. I would just put the trailer in his pasture or back it to his paddock and put his food in it for a while so that he learns it is a good place to be. Much easier on you and him and safer.
Good luck
Bette

I recently posted re: my troublesome TWH gelding who walks
right one the trailer but backs right off if I leave his head. The recent posts have made me wonder if it is wortwhile trying a
twitch to teach him to stand still once loaded? I have seen
twitches which are designed to be attached to a cross tie so it
does not have to be held on to. My objective here is to just
get him used to standing on the trailer: no eating, no backing
off: just stand. Also was wondering of Ace or quietex might
help him not be quite so nervous while on the trailer.

Thoughts?
