Re: [RC] Saddles for Wide Horses - Stephanie E Caldwell

One more thing... Star's got withers. She's grown (yet again!), and this
time she really broadened out through the chest/shoulders, but she still has
nice withers!

I guess I should have included in there that english saddles traditionally
don't work for this horse. She had a spinal injury as a two year old and
for
unknown reasons english saddles cause lameness. I'm going to take a flat
seat saddle seat sadde on test ride, otherwise known as a cutback. I rode
english pleasure for a while, so I can ride in it, if it'll fit. The
saddle
seat trainer who has this said that cutbacks will fit anything because
they're cut back (original, huh?), but I don't think it'll work long term
for us because it's got so little padding and nothing to help me stay in
position!

Hi.

Have you tried the Wintec saddle with the changeable gullet? I have one
which works great since I go through 3 tree sizes in 1 season.

I'm having fit problems with my little mare. The roping saddle I'd
been
using while looking for a saddle no longer fits, it's too narrow. The
other
saddles we've tried thus far are --

Abetta Endurance, fit okay, borderline too narrow.
American Endurance, Waaaay Narrow
Cordura Arabian Tree, Too Narrow,
Sharon Saare F Tree, tad wide, but could shim.
Marciante Endurance saddle, A little Narrow
Bob Marshall, tried for a few minutes, but I'm not sure if she's not
too
wide.

Does anyone have any input on a short, wide saddle?

Thanks,
Steph
