RE: [RC] Treadmills - Snodgrass, Bonnie

Libby, I used to work at a breeders farm (Arabs and QTR's). They did not do
endurance but they did use a treadmill to muscle up the young horses and to
exercise everyone during the winter snows (Aspen, CO). They only used the
treadmill at a walk but would elevate it to a steep incline and set the
speed for a fast walk. This seemed to work really well without causing
trauma to the joints. Built up the stifles nicely I'm sure. The only injury
we had related to the treadmill was when a yearling anglo-arab decided to
climb over the side and walked down my face, chest and thighs as I was up on
the catwalk and had a wall behind me. The horse was fine. I wasn't.

Does anyone else have a treadmill? How do you use it in your conditioning
program? Libby
