Re: [RC] [RC] suspensory injury - Laurie Durgin

obey the vet and don't try anything sooner than they say. I handwalked a horse for 5 months with a rear suspensiory and her prognosis was real ifffy.(Hers was a real tear in the rear).

I've been reading all of the "Seabiscuit" e-mails and I am wondering about all of the comments made about suspensory injuries. My mare pulled or strained her lateral suspensory ligament on her front right about a month ago. Ultrasound showed it to be swollen but not torn and otherwise in good shape. My vet has my mare on a strict 6 month layup. She said that since it was not torn the chance of it happening again is very minimal and she feels 50 milers could still be in my future. Any comments??
