[RC] Chicken Chase, Part Two (long) - ValloneleeHA! I ride in Arizona and sometimes we come across wild burros. My horse, Bravo, never gave them a second look. Then one day when we rounded a corner in some hills on BLM land and there were some burros lying in the sun snoozing. When they heard us coming they jumped to their feet and took off trotting. I know Bravo thought the "boulders" had come to life. To this day he still gives larger boulders a wide berth and keeps a wary eye on them in case they decide to give chase. :)Lee That which you have will one day fade into dust, but that which you do for others will live on. --- Begin Message ---No, he probably thinks the rock was an elephant seal! Many years ago, I introduced one of my favorite horses, not usually a spooker, to the fine art of beach patrol for the state park system. When he saw his first elephant seal in a small sandy cove, he thought it was a large benign log. Then the large log reared up, did his typical toot-toot sound, and scared the living daylights out of my horse. Thereafter, all large rocks on the desert were suspect. This horse never forgot, as long as he lived. He's usually scared of big rocks (not sure, maybe in a past life he was beat by a giant with big rocks), so it didn't really occur to me that it was the horse in the rock that concerned him until after he'd already agreed that the rock was no big deal and then spooked at the sketching. I got to admire the sketching while trying togethim to accept it though. I thought it was cool! Wish I'd thought to take a picture while I was there!
