Re: [RC] halters around neck - Heidi Smith

You can get halters that have a buckle at the nose. Undo nose buckle, and
it
is now around neck, without undoing the crown of the halter. Here is a
link
to someone who sells them. Dave with Camptown harness does wonderful work,
and is a heck of a nice guy.

Heck, I was always just taught to unbuckle the halter and slip it off the
nose and then immediately rebuckle it so that it serves as its own "horse
collar." That was so ingrained in me as a kid that I would have to have a
fight with myself to take the halter clear off prior to bridling anyway. If
a horse is really twitchy, I might even put the lead rope around the neck
while I do that quick procedure--but it can be done so quickly that it is
rarely an issue.
