While I understand why some vets (who don't want to get
their teeth kicked in by strange horses) use the neck.  The
butt has MUCH bigger muscles, fewer "other structures" (like
no nuchal ligament) to hit by accident, and the but muscles
get used more so the vaccine will purfuse to the tissue
better.


Kat, as I mentioned, I had all butt shots this year.  One mare had such a
bad reaction to the 5-way
her butt was hard like a tie-up and she was reluctant to move . It took two
days to move freely again.
I had thought also, that they could "walk it off better", but am sure not
convinced now
