any particular weed killer that does get rid of weeds and is not harmful to
the horses.

We will be using 2-4D for control of broadleaf weeds.  Reading material all
says it's safe for horses and that you don't have to remove the horses but
some manufactureres recommend a 1-3 day removal.   Have used 2-4D for our
hay pastures in previous years and have always been pleased.
