[RC] [Guest] Why Gas Prices Are So High in California - Ridecamp Guest

Jennifer catchriders@xxxxxxxxx
Hey there -

California had several gas refineries but also pays the highest in the
nation. Seems like gouging, but CA requires certain additives that not many
other state require (yet) and has among the most stringent anti-smog laws in
the USA; hence the refineries produce *just* enough gas to barely supply
California's needs and the rest gets refined differently. CA also has the
highest taxes for gas.

But, the conspiracy side of me agrees that this is a gimmick at government
levels for Dubya and his energy-commission based cabinet to open up the
Arctic National Refuge to oil drilling, start drilling off the California
coast and finally suck out the last drop in Louisiana. Dubya: "Texas
Homegrown Dope" (how to grow Texas Homegrown Dope: feed with silver spoon
and soft money, protect from draft).... somewhere in Texas a village missing
their idiot.
