[RC] Hay questions - spiritwood@xxxxxxxxx

Hi ridecampers and Susan G,(hint, hint),
Well, due to the drought we had here, we started feeding our winter supply
of hay in August when all the grass died. Then we got a month or two off
when the grass tried to rebound a bit, then the snows started! Needless to
say I am about out of hay and since area hay crops failed, I am having to
go out of this area in my attempts to get enough hay to get through until
spring? I have found a possible supply with enough to get me through, but
I need to contact them ASAP if I want any. This hay is a mix of timothy,
and another legume I'm not familiar with called "birdsfoot trefoil". The
hay person says it is related to alfalfa but easier to grow and hardier.
They say that the horses really like it and the hay bales are barn kept and
suitable for horses. Any information on this type of hay would be
appreciated. Thanks,
Becky
