[RC] Moist hooves - recommend good sealant - CatLyn1388

Our horses are on pasture 24/7. One horse has overly moist hooves where the walls give under your thumb when you press down and it has flaky horn around the nail holes so that it won't hold a shoe properly.  His frog is mushy.  My other horse has firm walls but flaky horn around the nail holes. He has a soft frog but not mushy. The farrier put clips on the fronts and backs to keep the shoes on.  My farrier recommended feeding Vita Biotin Crumbles - 1 oz per day and applying Tuff Stuff 3xs per week. We have been doing this for about 4 months. After doing some research, I think I need a sealant with a petroleum, mineral oil, or beeswax base instead of an acetone base. Does this sound right?  Can anyone recommend a good sealant? Thanks for your help. Lynda
