[RC] Coggins - Whose Responsibility? - Tamara Taylor

    Hi,

I have a serious US buyer for one of my horses in Canada. I realize that a
Coggins test is required to haul the horse across the border. The hauling
expenses are the responsibility of the buyer. Am I obligated to pay for the
coggins test? I am selling this horse for $800 US and last time I had coggins
done it was around $100 Canadian. Does this seem fair? If I sold the horse in
Canada I would not have the extra expense whereas the US buyer is taking
advantage of low prices and the exchange rate. Am I just being too cheap?? (I
think that comes with being a starving university student on a tight budget!)

    Tamara
