I prefer getting horses out on the trail
ASAP. I keep them walking (when on the trail) until they are relaxed
etc. Sometimes this takes 10-20 rides.
They will never learn about a trail until they get
there. I saw a local TV personality try a CTR with her perfect show
horse. One that was fine with all sorts of crowds and arena's. What
a disaster! The poor horse had thousands of hours of training and arena
work, but the trail was as scarey as if she only had 30 days.
