Re: [RC] Susan arabs come in many colors too! - Jon . Linderman

    Vickie,

Thank you for making my point better than I. No breed is inherintly better
and the presumption that arabs & arab crosses are unsuitable for children
is as presumptuous as assuming other breeds, for example appy's and paints,
    would be better.

As for our appy.....I rescued him from a place where he was neglected and
his feet were in such horrible shape he could hardly move. He was
used/abused including have riders on him at a lesson facility so large as
to nearly cause him to buckle under there weight. I had no use for him and
have given him a home with sheleter, food, vet care, farrier, etc. I have
a photo documentary I am keeping of this project, done out of concern for
him as an animal independent of his breed. My vet thinks he was weeks away
from blowing out his tendons and my farrier felt he was weeks away from
foundering. I made my statement about his mindset, not that of appaloosas
in general, which you most certainly mistook. I do not make blanket
statements. We own many types of horses including standbred race horses,
retired thoroughbred race horses, and also our arabian types, in addition
    to our singel appy.

Thank you also for insulting my daughter directly who is actually a very
good rider as evidenced by her ability in many disciplines including hunter
jumper, dressage, where she has had very very impressive scores, and she
has managed to complete Novice CTR's. She has accomplished before the age
of 10. I promise to stop, as you say TRASHING appaloosa but I would take
    care in insulting ones children.

I appreciate all breeds & I am sorry you were offended by my evaluation of
a single horse, who just happens to be an appy. Given the fact he was
rescued, treated for a variety of ills and has to be managed for HYPP (his
sire was bred KNOWING he was HYPP positive) we have done alot of this
animal and ask for and get nothing from him. If doing that much for an
appaloosa makes me unworthy to own he so be it. My point, poorly made, was
that no breed is by itself bad or good for a child. However, comments made
about a breed of animal are not nearly as offensive as offended one's
    family.
