[RC] Susan arabs come in many colors too! - Jon . Linderman

    Susan,

My pony club daughter rides a purebred arab and he does it all from jumping
to dressage (consistent 7's), to CTR. When she gets a bit bigger she'll
inherit my arab/saddlebred National Show Horse who also can pretty much do
    it all at 15.3 h.

As far as sane goes I think you'd have a hard time convincing people on RC
that arabs and arab crosses aren't sane. The expression "just a trail
horse" is a misnomer. There is nothing HARDER than being on the trail. As
for color there are plenty of pinto and tobiano arabs, part arabs, and
national show horses. Check out dreamhorse.com and arabianhorseamerica.com
as well as others. With a 6 footer in the making I think you'll want an
arab cross to get the color you want. If you find it you will also have an
athletic horse for Pony Club and other activities. Pinto national show
horses are not uncommon, and inspite of being bred as english pleasure
mounts for the most part they retain the athleticism of the arab and the
height of the saddlebred and have wonderful gaits and forward motion.

The assumption that appys and paints being sane by nature is just as big a
misnomer as arabs being "spaz's" or whatever. I've seen beautiful paints
run kids into the side of barns and buck them off in 4H classes and one
former "bomb proof" appy dumped my daughter several times as a lesson
horse. We have 2 purebreds and 1/2 arab that are among the safest most
bombproof horses I've ever seen and one appy.......well useless would be
polite. I think buying horses for our kids, at whatever age, is more
difficult than buying them for ourselves so good luck!

Sounds like you have your daughter in a wonderful environment w/Pony Club
so Best wishes with your tall filly and your search for the right horse!

    jon
