    When he gets racey going toward home, turn him in a different direction, then 
    make him keep going.  When he gets racey with another horse (work this out 
    beforehand with a buddy on a steady horse) have the buddy stop, then make him 
    keep going.  The point is to make it downright UNrewarding for him to choose 
    to go fast.  You'll probably have to do it quite a bit at first, and keep him 
    going for quite a while after he wants to quit.  
    
    Also, I have turned horses in a MUCH smaller circle than I thought they could 
    go at speed.  If your horse is athletic, he can do it.  He doesn't want to 
    fall down either.   jeri
