[RC] Cages on Stirrups - Rides 2 Far

expressed concern that brush could get
    > caught in
    > the cages and cause a rodeo, at least.

Yep, that can happen. Actually it was sort of a sapling...and it was
late in a race, and I just thought my horse had gotten his second wind
and showing excellent impulsion until someone pointed out that I was
    dragging a tree.

My most exciting "stirrup moment" came with a jumping saddle. We were
happily trotting down a single track with a dirt bank along the left
side, without a care in the world and then suddenly I was just sitting on
the ground. Had no *idea* how I got there. Caught the horse and started
to get back on and there was no stirrup or stirrup leather. I was totally
confused. Then looked back down the trail and there hung my English iron
on a thick root sticking out from the bank...and my stirrup leather
hanging down from it. Nice to know the safety release worked.
