RE: [RC] Cages on Stirrups - DiaComm

I, too, have heard people say that brush sometimes gets caught in the cages.
However, I've ridden for 10 years with cages and have found just the
opposite. When I'm riding through dense brush, the cages serve to deflect
the branches and make it easier to ride through.

I have those black plastic open cages on my Ultra stirrups. Recently,
someone I was chatting with expressed concern that brush could get caught in
the cages and cause a rodeo, at least. Since I mostly ride on the barren
plains of Alberta (pretty treeless where I am, anyway), I have never had to
push through brush and close, treed areas.

    Comments?

By the way, I love the cages. I can ride in flat soled shoes without a care.
The stirrups, too, are great. Makes a big difference in leg, knee, ankle,
    foot comfort.

Also, I've been reading with many chuckles the posts about chocolate icing.
My horse will not touch anything sweet. Molasses or applesauce, even mixed
with grain - he'll refuse the whole mixture.

He's what I refer to as a "crunchy" horse. He likes crunchy treats like
apples, carrots, horse cookies with molasses. Try to give him anything
gooey, including bran mash or soaked beet pulp - and up goes the nose and he
    walks away.

The horses he lives with think he's crazy and eagerly slurp up his rejects.
