[RC] beet pulp - Rides 2 Far

I have a confession...I've pretty much stopped giving beetpulp this
summer because of the flies. It drives me crazy. I have to cover the
bucket while it soaks or the flies get all over it. Then I give it to
the horses, they get it all over their mouths, then turn to knock a fly
off their side...then they have the sweet beet pulp on their side and
flies get on that...then they have a crusty brown stain. They end up with
patches of it dried all over their chests and sides. After they eat
flies love the pan and anything the beet pulp has gotten on. Am I the
only one this bothers? I have very few flies in my barn when I don't
give it, everyone holds their weight fine without it. Just don't see the
plus side much. I do feed it with the grain on the morning of a long
ride just to make sure they leave home tanked up. Otherwise to heck with
it. Just thought this might make some of you people who can't seem to
find the stuff where you are feel better.
