    Can you talk aabout what riding in the dark is like? I'm doing my first LD 
    next month and it will be in dark part of the time.
    I did a training ride in the dark over the weekend and I have to say it feels 
    completely different from in the light. I had to rely on my horse more...he 
    seemed to have no problem, but my familiar trail look entirely different in 
    the dark. I noticed my horse went smoother and faster down hills, probably 
    because I wasn't seeing the terrain and underestimating his ability to 
    negotiate it.
