Re: Rope with a Tire

I'm sorry, but I didn't intend this as an historical citation.
Merely an illustration...

My personal opinion on all this is as follows...

There used to be a bit of common wisdom on the old
Internet newsgroups that whenever any debate
got around to mentioning Nazis, it had decayed past
all redemption and could no longer possibly provide
any useful information.  My opinion is that any discussion
of "natural" horsemanship that cites Mustangs as an
example belongs in the same category.

No offense, but not exactly the sort of reliable source I'd use for researching the history of mustanging methods.  Having tried to chase livestock with vehicles, I can tell you that even less agile creatures such as cows are pretty tough to capture with a wheeled vehicle....

This technique is used in _The Misfits_ (Clark Gable, Marilyn Monroe,
circa 1960).  Copies should be available in any sizeable video store.  If
I recall correctly (it's been at least 10 years since I watched it), they
roped them off the back of a truck.  Pretty harrowing.
