On the other hand, maybe some would wonder why you would deprive your horse
of the ability to feel the rocks and then ask him the run 25 miles over
them. Is it more okay to inflict pain for the sake of competition if the
horse can't feel the pain?

Two different schools of thought, doesn't mean one is more right in how they
chose to care for their horse. Just means they've decided a different path
is right for them with the info they have and are basing their decision on.
