Re: Merino saddle covers

I have a Merino sheepskin cover on my Aussie. Prior to that I had a
woolback cover made by Jan. The woolback had two layers of thickness in the
seat throughout; the Merino is only one layer. The Merino is a little slick
feeling compared to the woolback, and is definitely not as cushioned. The
downside on the woolback is that the portion under the legs was also 2
thicknesses; Jan would not make the panels with a thin back side, so there
was too much thickness there, but it was OK for me because I need padding
under my knees.

It would depend on your ultimate goal. If you are looking for lots of
cushion, the Merino may not suit you. I am toying with adding more padding
under the seat to the Merino, but have not worked this out as yet. Hope
this helps.
