RE: RE: MCL Repair

Title: RE: MCL Repair
My ACL was torn so many years ago - it's totally gone and never been repaired.  But since I'm a lazy bum it hasn't bothered me in the least and riding has actually done wonders for keeping my quads in shape to keep my knee together.  I totally forget most of the time that I have anything gone in that knee.  I'm sure it would be a different story if I was more athletically inclined.

My injury was a ski accident.  I had arthroscopic surgery as an outpatient and was in a cast for 6 weeks, then underwent three months of painful physical therapy to break up scar adhesions.  I went through a couple of years where I felt every weather system coming into the area in my knee.

Now they don't cast anymore so that this kind of scarring doesn't take place.  My sister has had several knee surgeries but she's not lazy like I am and played competitive volleyball for several years and would come out of surgery with a walking cast.

Good Luck - can't say 100% that you'll have the same experience as I with the bum knee!

Hi Kathy: Am I to understand your ACL is still missing? Have you had it repaired? I'm a candidate in the near future for a knee and ACL which is also separated. Any info. available.
Thx. Steven

I had my MCL stapled together along with an ACL arthroscopic cleanup.  It ached more than the ACL injury while healing, but it’s fine now.  No problems at all.  But my MCL was repairable and my ACL is totally missing.  I’m sure it’s different for everyone and how they got injured, though!
