Re: Trail Riding Safety

Too all who responded about watering a horse. I know this. I let my horses
drink whenever they want. I was just confirming the same thing that Linda
Merims had learned growing up, to never water a hot horse. I was taught
many stupid things that I did not incorporate into my own belief structure,
and this is one of the stupid things. Please no more emails. Thanks,

Carolyn Burgess

You can and should allow water to a hot horse, as much as he wants as long
as you plan to keep him moving. If you are going to get off and let him
stand you should plan to water him and at least walk him around for 15 to 30
min. Hosing him off is good too as long as you are going to keep him moving.
