The Swanton Pacific is in Northern California, on the coast just north of Santa Cruz. They put on a 75 & 100 miler (and a Ride N' Tie). For the race, riders by special permission are allowed to go through areas that are otherwise "off limits." And it is gorgeous--lush coastal forests, huge old trees, views of the Pacific Ocean . . . . Just getting to stay at the basecamp is worth the trip all by itself.
