Re: Entries - Note to Ride Managers

What I do is keep a database on my computer of all riders who have done any
of our rides, who have requested entries at some time, or have volunteered.
I call it my "sucker list." I send entries to all of those, and to those
within a 80 mile radius of the ride, I send a volunteer sign up sheet.
Each ride, I probably get about 20 requests from those not already on the
sucker list, and then I ususally get about 10 or 15 new riders who enter who
may have been given a copy of the ride entry by a friend.
The good news is (and the bad news is) there is about 600 on my database, so
the cost for this mailing is over $200.

Some ride managers do not send out entries. They wait until a rider
requests a ride entry and then they send it out. It's up to the individual
ride manager. And yes, for a fee, they could request a list of address
labels for the riders in their region, but that again it up to the ride
manager on how they want to handle it.

entry forms and directions to their rides? Doesn't AERC provide a mailing
list of members in your region? (or nearby regions when applicable)?

a race I have to call the ride manager and request an entry or send an
email. This applies even to races that I have attended the previous year.

race will call for entries and directions?
