cows and endurance horses

We used to live on a cattle ranch here in Montana...Whitney and I tried sorting cows several times on our endurance horses...We'd be in these huge pastures and trying to sort specific pairs out of the herd and put them in the adjoining pasture...there were all sorts of obstacles...like badger holes and swamps....it was pretty much absolute mayhem...our Arabs would get so excited that we'd usually have to give up and go home and get the "good ole boys"....one of whom was ole blue...he was soooo mellow that when you left him tied up    he'd start falling asleep..his big ole head would drop further and further toward the ground until the breast collar cut off his circulation just enough that he'd pass out and fall over!!!
