I have one of the 2-piece wooden lever gizmo girth-tighteners.  I bought it to use
to get the girth tight enough on my Orthoflex.  They work--got me the one
or two extra holes I simply couldn't get with my own strength.  Figuring out
how to thread the billet through the gizmo the first time is a bit of an IQ
test, though.
