25 to 30 miles for a horse is not a big deal.  To you or me , that's another 
matter.  you're comparing apples to oranges.  If Matt had to run 30 miles of 
the Tevis in order for his horse to finish, how'd he do?  To be honest, if my 
horse needed to have me run a 1/3 of it in order for him to be able to 
finish, I'd pick another mount (the operative word being mount).
