RE: volunteering at rides

<snip>

I'm taking a little survey:
Have you ever volunteered at a ride?
Do you *regularly* volunteer at your local rides?
By volunteering I mean that you make a commitment to the ride manager to be
there and work, and you're not riding or crewing also. <snip>

Yes I do. For the last four years or so until I got a prospect that I thought
would do well. I have done everything from ride secretary to P&R. In the
Daniel Boone Distance Riders we (the members) have to work one day of one of the
rides we put on and have the option to work another and get a 50 mile credit
towards our club miles for each day worked. Our rides are usually two days. On
the rides where we have to work, we usually work a day and ride a day. It
doesn't matter which. Be very careful not to ignore your non riding
volunteers. They are a valuable asset.

I used the experience to enhance my knowledge base on endurance before I started
riding in them.
