Re: trailer trouble
This is just my experience and I'm no trainer, but when I taught my kids to
load, I spent alot of time loading them halfway in and then asking them to
step out again...one foot in/out, two feet in/out, three feet in/out, again
and again and again. My mare did the same thing as your horse when she was
a yearling because she couldn't see behind herself very well to unload and
got scared (and just refused to get out, period). I spent alot of time
doing the half-in/half-out thing and it worked alot better once they weren't
getting all worried about stepping off into space on the way out. In her
case, we also backed up to a curb for a session or two, so the step-down
thing wasn't as scary 'til she figured it out.
