Shannon,

Can you tell us more about the type of sores and itching?  Where do you
live and what is your climate like?  Rain-Scald, believed to be an
organism related to Mud Fever, Sweet-itch and several allergic reactions
can produce the symptoms you have described.

What are the sores like?  Were they blisters, raw skin, missing patches
of hair, infected in any way?  Any odor to the sores? His this horse
shared tack (girth or cinch with other horses).  Different shampoo? Any
toxic plants in his environment?
