I take chromium daily, but that's because I'm diabetic. In large doses, it 
can be useful in building lean muscle mass, but there are other, better, 
nutrients for that purpose--creatine, for example, and gamma oryzanol (rice 
oil, rice bran). Maybe Beth or Sarah has further input on this subject.
