Mare Foaling
Hi there Everyone,
A friend of mine approached me yesterday regarding a mare of hers due to
foal pretty much any time for some advice and not knowing the right
answer for sure, I told her I would send it out to you all to get your
input. Problem being, as a result of her not having her mare on a
proper worming program, she has seen some worms in her mares droppings.
What I am asking here, at this stage in the mares pregnancy what may be
the best procedure to start to fix this problem. Is it better to start
the mare on a program right now or could that be too dangerous to mare
and future baby or is it better to wait until she foals. In a situation
like this is there one type of wormer that may be better than another.
Could someone also explain the what are some of the dangers to mare and
to foal when a situation like this has unfortunately gotten so out of
control. I have to admit this situation saddens me dearly, some people
still do not get the importance of a proper worming schedule, but mostly
important right now is to try to help this mare and foal to get on track
with a happier and healthy life.
I appreciate any help given.
Thanks
Trish
