HELP WITH CARBOS??



We just signed up for our first multi-day CTR, the Maine 80
(30/30/20) on May 29-31. We have done several 25-mile
CTRs and some three-day pleasure rides.


Meshack is an Arab Gelding and will be 8YO by then (his rider
is 60 years older).

He normally gets a quart of grain morning and evening, and I up 
that about 50% at competitions.  He was very excited at competitions 
last year, and I worried that too much grain would make it worse.

He seemed much better at the 25-mile CTR we just did in January

He's an easy keeper, but at competitions I give him all the hay he
wants.

We have been using electrolytes (Perform-n-Win) and it seems,
according to recent posts, that carbos are vital in recovery 
We have been carrying a bag of carrots on the trail. 

What should we use  for carbos and how should we administer it? 
And when (before, during, after)?
