Re: cross cantering



Mos horses are weak on the right side as we are also.  This can cause a
problem.  My experience has been in training to 1) stay in balance with
the horse, 2) use your sitting bones (seat) properly, 3) if working in
an arena, I would try asking for the canter depart as you are going into
a corner when the horse is more apt to be  bent in th correct directon.
After picking up the lead, have your horse bent to the inside slghtly.
You should be just able to see the horses' left eye if on the left lead.
Another great aid, assuming all is in balance, through your transitional
work from trot to canter, specifically in upward transitions, if your
horse is suppled, he should pick up the correct lead.  All this does
take patience and practice.   Another add on excercise is spirlaing in
from a 20 meter circle to a ten meter cirlce  and out again can help
with bending correctly.  Hope these techniques work for you.
