Yes there are many of us that use the program you lined out. I have been riding endurance for around 15 years. I'm no big shot and don't have that many miles. (my husband is in the Marine Corps) for years I couldn't afford to join AERC. I raise my endurance prospects from babies and train them with no extra "stuff"  before my mare died (trailer accident)I was only out of the top ten I think 2 times. I never won, never got BC...but I love the motto...To Finish Is To Win...My Shera was always pulling at the bit crossing the finish line...we were both happy.
I got out of the showring and barrel racing because I wanted more relaxed and fun time with my horse.  I love reading all the info on the new gadgets and Carbs, I feel we all should be open to learn...just ride your own ride and enjoy the trail.
