I think Debi has hit the nail on the head.  Donation and mandatory... $5 at
that, do not go hand in hand.  Put yourself in the place of the "mildly
curious" about endurance riding.  Would you choke up $5 just to see this
trade show?  Many won't.  But, put up donation boxes at all manned entrances
and exits, clearly marked for Trail Preservation... and you might find that
you do even better in the end.
