trade show 'donation'

I am steadfastly opposed to the Trade Show 'Donation'. The venue has
always been a wonderful place to freely attend and see old friends. We
will be forced to pay admission fees cleverly called a 'Donation' to
purchase something from vendors who are themselves paying a fee for the
privilege of selling to us. This has been provided for us free in the
past. I can thing of many reasons to oppose this extortion fee, but the
reason that floats to the top about the 'trails fund' is that AERC has
'no plan' for the use of the money. Of course they operate on the 'No
Plan' plan historically, but AERC's best utilization is political rather
than financial. The organization has the means to politically effect
things to happen because of the broad base of members. I can foresee a
large dilemma when a demand is made for the funds. Who gets how much?
Each region will demand their share. The need in Montana is not as high
as a need in Florida? I feel this is another quick decision that was
not thought out well and in the end they will be forced to eat.
