Well, to be real French, tear the bread in about 2 inch chunks & throw it to 
the horses.  We had a French exchange student stay with us about 10 yrs ago 
and have become great friends.  When we visit his family in France at their 
"house country", they feed bread to their donkeys, which hang out near the 
picnic area waiting for bread scraps.  Quite amusing when they wind up for a 
hee-haw to declare their wish for a few scraps.

Nancy(is bread a new feeding strategy for competitions?  Isn't it a carb??)
